During a stint of unemployment following graduate school I found myself filling my time with artistic projects.  At the core was my desire to live among things that brought me joy but didn't put a dent in my bank account.  I began collecting solid wood furniture that others discarded at thrift stores, garage sales and sometimes the side of the road.  The piece pictured here was painted white in bad attempt at rescuing then left outside on the curb when it all went wrong.  It was one of the first I ever did, and still one of my favorites.  It remains in my bedroom!
